Summary
- The Honkai: Star Rail 2.5 update may be shorter than usual, possibly by one or two weeks.
- Three new playable characters are confirmed to arrive in Version 2.5, possibly compensating for the lack of content.
- Version 2.5 will be significant for story content and gameplay changes, but may have a notable absence of events.
There’s bad news for Honkai: Star Rail 2.5 if a new leak about the update is to be believed. Version 2.5 is the next patch for the turn-based by HoYoverse, and it will continue the story quests kicked off by Version 2.4. This means that players will continue to explore the Xianzhou Luofu as they pursue an escaped prisoner and try to attend the Wardance festival. In addition to the journey involving the Astral Express crew and their allies, players will also be able to acquire three new playable characters in Honkai: Star Rail 2.5, who may be game-changing.
Despite this, there may be bitter news regarding the patch. According to information provided by the leaker known as Flying Flame, which was shared in a post tagged as “Questionable” on Reddit, Version 2.5 may be shorter than regular updates. The leak mentions that the update will not last the regular 42 days (or six weeks) and that it may be cut down by seven or even 14 days, meaning the patch could be one or two weeks shorter than most patches last. This has yet to be confirmed, but there were already hints of Honkai: Star Rail being shorter.

Honkai: Star Rail 2.5 Leaks Indicate The Update Will Be Shorter
The Patch Could Be Cut By One Or Two Weeks
The rumors that Version 2.5 are not completely baseless. They are sustained by a previous and notorious lack of leaks related to limited-time events. While each update varies in the number of limited events that players can participate in for rewards, there has been a notable absence of leaks centered around events. The shorter period for the patch could explain the lack of more events – with a shorter duration, there is not enough time to spread out limited-time events in Honkai: Star Rail 2.5.
Furthermore, one of the only few leaked events for Version 2.5 is actually a reward distribution. The leak mentions an event called Gift of Comet, which will give players several in-game items, such as Fuel and Tears of Dreams, as well as 800 Stellar Jade that allegedly amounts to five free pulls on top of the 10 free pulls given by the regular Gift of Odyssey event. This means that players may get more free pulls in Honkai: Star Rail 2.5 through distribution events – but the rumored Gift of Comet could be compensation for the lack of more events.
Given the recent leak mentioning Version 2.5 will be shorter than usual, the addition of three new playable characters in a single patch also seems like a way of compensating players for the lack of more enticing content – while access to them is limited behind the banner’s drop rates, three new characters could significantly change a player’s experience with gameplay.
This is especially true if they are lucky enough to obtain and max out Feixiao, Lingsha, and Moze within the same update in Honkai: Star Rail.
As is the case with any piece of leaked information, this leak should be considered with caution, as it may be incorrect. If the update truly is shorter than the regular six weeks, HoYoverse may announce that publicly, as it did with Version 1.4, which was also shorter than usual. Regardless of the patch’s duration, it seems like Honkai: Star Rail 2.5 will be an important update when it comes to story content and new playable characters.
